I enjoyed reading this book which has been well researched. The author explains the historical context and background throughout which is really useful to the reader. He creates a good balance between the allegorical and the actual events happening at the time and uniquely blends them together. This was the best feature of the book because even though I don't agree with the author's interpretation of the book in all areas it remained interesting to read and presents the authors view in a compelling manner.

The struggle for me; It is clear that the author is passionate about this subject and has some good ideas. I struggled with his presentation of these ideas as if they were a direct revelation from God and that therefore he was somehow divinely inspired to write this book. This places the reader in a position where if they disagree or have a different view they are effectively contradicting God's revelation....kindof like those who speak "words of knowledge" or "prophesy" about future events.

Overall a good read and balanced perspective on the book Song of Solomon.

Disappointment. Could have been a good story, but the sexual content was unnecessary.

Ultimate ball game between the Major League All-Stars and the All-Stars of the Negro League. Very entertaining story.

The author throws in every historical figure from the 1930s that he can work in, from Henry Ford to Carole Lombard to Clarence Darrow. This would probably annoy some readers, but I found it amusing. The author, a poet (this is his first novel) has a poet's gift for language and an obvious love for baseball that makes the book a joy to read for a baseball fan.… (más)
