While the subject matter was interesting, I thought it would be more about the history of how industries got to be what they are and exploit workers with some stuff about the workers and labor rights. Instead of that, it felt like 25% history and 75% social science and theory.

Compelling history about labor leaders and activists most people never heard of and communities whose stories have not been amplified until now, including African-Americans, Asians, Latinos, Jews, women, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities. There have been historic labor fights in industries as varied as laundries, trucking, flight attendants and sex work, and we see the enduring impact of such fights. Essential reading to help frame the current union resurgence in context.
