I'm not a doctor or a scientist. I picked up this book because it intrigued me. I've been reading about probiotics and thought this would have some useful info.

Well - it did some good explaining of the digestive system. Now, whether all our illnesses are caused by an unbalanced gut. . . hmmm. I know if I eat better, I feel better. It makes some sense to do a cleanse and gradually find out as you add certain foods back into your diet what might have disagreed with you. But to clear out toxins?

I'm always a skeptic, it seems. I did google this author on the internet. Found out he has a program (an expensive program) to sell shakes/supplements to go along with his diets.

I'm not entirely convinced about this but some of the recipes in here sounded good. And it's weird that you can't mix animal proteins and grains together. Whatever.

Junger has an amazing way of making complicated physiological concepts seem easy. This is a very straightforward book, thought process and system. Well worth the time.

Best and clearest explanation I've ever read for detox programs. He covers all the physiological information in a very accessible way.

Interesting reading but I can't really rate it higher without having followed the program. I am intrigued since I have health problems that may benefit from a cleanse so I may give it a try. Much of the information on inflammation is not new to me as I am an avid reader of books by Dr Joel Fuhrman, Dr Esselstyne, Dr McDougall, etc. Unfortunately, you can't find two who agree on all points which makes it difficult to know who to follow.
