Robert Isbell

Ray Hicks is a legend in the NC and Tennessee mountains. He was the main draw at the Jonesborough, TN National Storytelling Festival for years. Robert Isbell has written a stark account of Ray's life growing up in the NC mountains where no one moves far from home and because he was so blessed with a loving family he never knew how devastatingly poor they were.
