I think this book would be good for intermediate level students and especially students who speak English and Spanish. The book is about Little Lobo and what he might see at the market while he is delivering things to people. they see a lot of different things.

Baby-Toddler—When a board book busts out of its format and becomes a party, Raúl the Third's in town,
reinventing the game. Coco Rocho welcomes readers and lets them know that this fiesta is as much for them as it is
for him. Bilingual, funny, and 100 percent refreshing.

Gr 1–4—A book festival celebration presented in a graphic novel style as English and Spanish words are intertwined
throughout. This story is a great representation of all the wonderful services a public library can offer, from a map
room and books on tape to video games and everything in between.

The Vamos! books are a part of a series and this one was all about reading. The characters go to the library, create their own books, and learn the importance of a story. The illustrations were amazing and something I’ve never seen really in a children’s book. It was set up like a graphic novel, but in picture book format.

I think this book holds great value by showcasing a beautiful culture in a normal everyday setting. I think kids would love to read this book and I would use it with 2nd-3rd graders.

Teaches kids in a bilingual manner of community. It engages kids in a graphic novel like form of illustration. At the end of the book there is a glossary of all the english translations to the spanish words used in the book.

This great book by Raúl the Third is all about celebrating different cultures. Friends have a party on a bridge, sharing languages and traditions as they travel between two border towns.

A thin story about one-dimensional characters going out for tacos. This is like the eighth book in a two-series shared universe that I have not been following, and apparently it is not the best jumping-on point, especially since most of the characters don't even get named until the second half of the book.

Meh.

(Best of 2023 Project: I'm reading all the graphic novels that made it onto NPR's Books We Love 2023: Favorite Comics and Graphic Novels list.)

¡Vamos! Let's Go Read follows Little Lobo and friends as they explore their library's Libro Love Book Festival! This book is bursting with imagination and is Raúl the Third's creative tribute to the power of libraries and librarians.

A wonderful book by Raúl the Third about celebrating culture and differences. There's a party on the bridge as friends travel between two border towns sharing their languages and culture. The author created this book from his memories of being raised between two border towns: El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico. There's so much to love about this book, art, and series.

A wonderful bilingual story about El Toro and all his frineds using their wrestling skills to earn dineros for tacos! Wonderfully illustrated while also teaching literacy in relation to sequential storytelling, this is an excellent book.

I really love Raúl the Third and his illustrations. This story was a bit hit or miss, as El Toro doesn't really take initiative and needs a woman to help him clean. However, this book could also be interpreted as a story of the power of team work to get a task done.

Little Lobo, his dog and friend pick up a bunch of food for the luchadores before the big show with fun, frenetic, illustrations and tons of delicious sounding food.

Now I want tacos.

This book is about a group of friends who are headed to a grand celebration, but they soon discover that the bridge they need to get to the celebration is closed. They become discouraged and wonder how they will ever get to the celebration, so they start to imagine the different ways that they can get passed the bridge.

I speak some Spanish. I believe a child who wants to learn some Spanish words would like this book. Pictures/text are very nice.

This book would be easy for someone to learn to translate a few words at a time. The pictures help a lot!

Really great board book (with English/Spanish text) about all the fun things involving parties: cake, pinata, and dancing!

Back in the day, before El Toro and his friends were a team—un equipo fabuloso—when they were just niños who wanted to be luchadores they had to learn their wrestling skills and moves. They studied with maestro Ricky Ratón. Each excelled in his or her special skill, but when the final exam came, it was to defeat their teacher in the ring. Each was defeated by Ratón, until they realized that together as a team they could. “…and they have been a team ever since!” – A fabulous team!

This book depicts latin culture, and varying levels of latin culture. This book primarily does this using Spanish vocabulary amidst english in sentences. The author also uses different mediums of art to show this culture in this book. I would recommend this book to k-2nd grade students, as it is created with more images than words. There are a good amount of words, but there was more pictoral content than language.

El Toro wants to win against The Wall in an upcoming match, but he also doesn't want to sleep in instead of training. Can his trainer Kooky Dooky convince him to get moving?

This was an entertaining book, especially for kids who like sports and high-action content. It reminds them that while hard work isn't fun, the payoff can be worth it. The overall message about dedication is a positive one.

The text is a mix of English and Spanish, with context clues and repetition of the same idea helping to cue the reader in on the meaning of the words. (No glossary is provided.) English words are presented in black ink while Spanish ones use a purple ink. This is a good way to help readers increase their vocabulary of Spanish words or English words, as the case may be. However, for monolingual readers, this may make this otherwise early reader style book a little more challenging to read on their own.

The illustrations are quite interesting. They are not really my preferred style, but they remind me of vintage comics mixed with an art style I am blanking on currently. They are full of fun small details, make use of many colors, and convey lots of action, so kids are sure to like them.

After a tough match, the wrestling stadium is a mess, but El Toro is the only one around to try and clean it up. Can he do it alone or can he tag in a friend?

This was an entertaining book, especially for kids who like sports and high-action content. It reminds them that while chores aren't fun, they are a lot easier with a helping hand. The overall message about teamwork is a positive one. I have some quibbles about other minor messages implied by the book's content, including the idea that people who call out sick are faking it, that blowing on dishes is a more efficient way to dry them off than using a towel, and the painful-looking image of a chicken trying to pull itself out of the tight grip of a wrestler.

The text is a mix of English and Spanish, with context clues and repetition of the same idea helping to cue the reader in on the meaning of the words. (No glossary is provided.) This is a good way to help readers increase their vocabulary of Spanish words or English words, as the case may be.
