Water Fae Adria is a pirate, so stealing the Sun Stone should be simple. She didn’t expect to be caught by the Belian, the Hybrid Prince. She gets away, but she is determined to acquire the stone. She needs it to cure herself of a painful curse.
Belian is drawn to the pirate thief. Once he learns why she needs the stone, he decides to help her. With the help of an Ice Dragon, a mermaid and an encounter with the Sea Witch, can the two survive the powers stacked against them and find a future together?
This is a prequel to the Brides of the Dragon King series. This book provides more detail of the author’s world building than in the first book of the series. The reader learns more about the different kinds of Fae and other supernatural and divine beings in this world. The matriarchal culture of Belian’s people is an interesting touch and makes the male main character someone other than the standard alpha male often found in romantsy titles.

Adria was a difficult character for me to sympathise with. While I could appreciate her desire to rid herself of her curse, the choices she made seemed reckless and selfish. And she succeeds in solving her problems through divine intervention rather than her own abilities and efforts.

The sections with the Sea Witch were so reminiscent of the Disney movie “The Little Mermaid” that I was distracted by the song “Poor Unfortunate Souls” running through my head as I read it.

Some explicit sexual content, but not excessive.

This is a very VERY fast paced spicy adventure with mermaids, dragons, fae, magic, pirates, and gods.

I really enjoyed this unique fantasy. I loved the overall plot, the characters, and the world. Fantasy can become incredibly repetitive but this really stuck out in its own little ways. I loved the characters especially Najla and Isa. This book had a lot going on but it was so well written it was easy to visualize and fall into the story.

I do think there is a hard balance to find between fantasy books being too long and too short and I think this one was just a bit too short. I enjoyed the quick read but would have liked to get a little bit more world building. I also found some confusion in the passage of time but nothing too big. Towards the end the plot started getting pretty muddled and confusing.

I would definitely recommend this book to someone who might be new to fantasy as it is a quick fun read!

This books was phenomenal. The plot was quick to the point but also held suspense. The characters were relatable and lovable. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was written in 3rd person which honestly is completely fine I just prefer first person. Overall great story line the world building and magic system were easy to get a hold of and I love how the different creatures were depicted.

The enemies-to-lovers, high stakes played really well in this story. It is a different story than a lot of the main stream fantasy books, setting it apart. A romantasy that isn't to heavy on the love part, staying true to the twists and adventure. The magic system was fairly easy to understand and become a part of, and the dual POVs were perfect for this story. It was a quick read, because you want to know what's going to happen next.
