The book began with explaining different -arians and -isms, or the names describing the kinds of food you eat, such as vegetarians and raw foodists. It explained the types of food specific people would eat, and what those people were classified as (food-wise). Next, the book introduced how religion affects diet. It also talked about the history of vegetarians and giving up certain foods for a specific time, like rationing and Meatless Mondays. Fats and sugar come next, and the book gives health and nutrition facts. Then comes the farm facts. Animal welfare and treatment is talked about, but things like genetic engineering and organic produce are included as well. Finally, the book looks to the future and shares information on futuristic preparation such as 3D printing food as well as revolutionizing planting techniques!

From the start, this book was full of tasty bits of knowledge. I learned a lot about different diets, and there is quite a lot of interesting history behind many of them! My favorite diet that I’ve learned about is the paleo diet, which is a diet based off of what Neanderthals ate. I found the religious part exciting to read, as I love learning about different cultures! Reading this book, I learned so much more about healthy eating, and how fat really affects me. Personally, I was not thoroughly convinced to become a full-fledged vegetarian or vegan, but I like the idea of Meatless Mondays and growing a little bit of home produce.
