Wild and Free: By Willow Terez
Annaliese Hofner

This is a terrific effort by a young author whose imagination amazes me. I have read many books with anamorphic themes. This short novel stands out as truly original, a blend of the thoughts of young humans and the needs of wolves. This is not a werewolf tale. It is a beautiful story of the commonalities between all of God’s creatures.

From Willow herself, to Suki, the packs, and Falke, all of the characters are sufficiently developed, and draw the reader into their lives and unique motives. The attention to detail, through both description and dialog, compounds the fascination of the story. I could see her wolf family through her writer’s brush. Heartbreak, anger, terror, joy, victory — I felt I was there. There were even times to laugh, for example in the chapter “A Coyote Gives Us Fashion Tips.” Miss Hofner herself presents two drawings to illustrate the outcome. Wonderful!

If I was still teaching, I would use Wild and Free while teaching about wolves. I believe that Miss Hofner’s creative book would pull the students into a deeper and more personal understanding, not only of the lives of wolves and the things that challenge them, but of the things all creatures share, and the ability of humans to understand when they choose to do so. I will be recommending Wild and Free: By Willow Terez to my former colleagues, and all the young and old humans I know. I know they will find it as giving a tale as I have.

Wild and Free: by Willow Terez
by Annaliese Hofner

This was a fun little book. I was so impressed with the writing done by a young girl. The story and illustrations were truly creative. There were a few little things in the book that were inconsistent, but overall they did not detract from the experience of reading about a young girl who was abandoned by her parents and raised by wolves.

My sincere thanks to Library Thing Early Reviewers and Annaliese Hofner for allowing me to read this book and give my opinion of it. 4 stars and I am excited to share this with some young readers who will enjoy it.… (más)

Review: Wild & Free by Willow Terez-Annaliese Hofner. 4* 09/16/2022

This was an Early Reviewer’s book that I enjoyed reading. The story was told by Willow’s point of view who is still a child and had editing help from an adult. I enjoyed her characters, her awareness to detail was accurate and I liked the way she created the dialog to have the story flow without a flaw. The ten-year-old author took a step beyond her years. The story was amazing and held the readers attention to the very last page. I believe this young girl is going places beyond the forest of wolves.… (más)
