The book takes already established nursery rhymes and tells them again through the artwork of Mary Hildebrandt. The artwork is colorful, interesting, and draws children in. The way the artist portrays the nursery rhymes is done to tell more of the story then just through the rhyming words and reputation. The book doesn’t revolve solely around one nursery rhyme this allows children that do not like old MacDonald to enjoy other nursery rhymes. The other thing that I would like to mention is that the artwork adds a unique sense of humor to the story. The best example of the humor is at the end of old McDonald when it says that “he worked so hard” he gets fed up and sells the farm. Children of a higher age would find the notion of him selling the farm as funny and probably find many other things in the artwork funny as well.… (más)
