Roxanne Henke

Again, I was impressed by this author. I initially thought I wouldn't like this book as much as the first one, After Anne, but wanted to read it prior to reading the third book in this series, Becoming Olivia (review forthcoming), and ended up liking it just as much!! I was suprised that a "christian" novel had characters cohabitating prior to marriage because that's typically not seen, but was glad because it really added to the reality of the book. The characters were very real, with realistic inner and outer struggles. Roxanne Henke has a gift for making you care about these people in Brewster and in the end you are rooting for them as if you are personal friends with them. I hope Roxanne continues to write books because I will continue to buy them! I highly recommend this author!… (más)

This is a book I read on a recommendation and I went and bought every other book this author penned! A new favorite! For a debut novel, I was awestruck at the skill in creating characters that I felt I actually knew. Few books can make me cry, but this one did! It was a bit repetitious as it was written in the first person from each character's point of view (chapter at a time) but I also enjoyed that unique perspective because it really allowed you to know each "person" better. This book is inspirational in a way that makes you think without shoving spiritualism down your throat. The small town of Brewster reminds me so much of the small town I live in, and the author actually grew up and lives in the same small town my mother is from. I would recommend this book to anyone and am having my daughter read it as well. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.… (más)
