**spoiler alert** Disclaimer - I'm adding just about every book I read in 2016 to Goodreads in December. I probably read this in... November.

I read a ton of lesbian romance novels on Kindle Unlimited this year. I have no idea why. Probably because they were free? All of them were of decidedly average quality, and most of them mesh together in my memory. However, this one kinda stands out because, despite having one of the better covers, I was incredibly underwhelmed by both of the characters and their romance. I thought ... ugh, their names ... the florist? Was both overly aggressive and wishy-washy which was confusing. What a weird and unrealistic combo. She was super sexual, non-committal, but then suddenly pissed when Kelsey - who previously was straight - wouldn't change her life/attitude about independence for her. AFTER LIKE A MONTH AND SLEEPING TOGETHER MAYBE ONCE.

I thought Kelsey's character didn't make much sense either, similarly with conflicting personality traits, but just kinda went along for the ride. I was already accepting one makes-no-sense character and couldn't handle the mental work of criticizing both of them.

I don't really see what either saw in each other; it seemed more like a romance we're just seeing the beginning of that would for sure end in tears in a year or so. I.e., based on hormones and initial attraction. Way too much early 20's "Oh, a lesbian who is really cute is INTO ME!" titillation on Kelsey's part, and the attractive idea of a partner who understands and supports you for a change. From Dre's side, seems like a classic case of falling in love with a mostly-straight girl, then trying to change everything about her, making a lot of assumptions, ending up with your heart broken.

Usually, I don't care what happens to characters AFTER the romance. I mean, getting them together is the intriguing part - the part we're reading the book for - and usually, they are so happy and we've been waiting so long for them to be together that it's almost believable - or at least just satisfying - to accept the happily ever after and let your brain close this case. In this instance, I just kept thinking "I saw this couple in college and it did not end well...."
