The book highlighted very eloquently the many flaws of the coercive, western education system of mandatory schooling, often directed and imposed by the government, with little to no freedom for both educators and students. The author dispelled a series of myths and stressed the numerous ways the school system clashes with the UN declaration of the children's rights. At the end he draws a parallel between human submission in the condition of slavery or women's submission before the 20th century emancipation, and the submission children face today at the hand of schools. I agree with all the points and find it really quite depressing. I was left hoping for more solutions in the last chapters, but they really weren't offered. I guess I'll have to search beyond.
