[3.75] Harris has written an enlightening and thought-provoking book that explores our healthcare system through the eyes of a Black mother whose son is battling a mysterious illness. She skillfully captures the anger and frustration that virtually all of us would experience if we were forced to grapple with the unknown. What’s more, Harris had to confront this crisis while also dealing with her own anxiety and depression. I do think some sections lacked continuity. Also, the strong religious overtones might cause relatability challenges for readers who are not overly religious. That being said, “This Boy We Made” offers interesting perspectives on a range of issues, including our medical system, genetics and racism.… (más)
