It was... Fine? I didn't hate it, but I also didn't enjoy it that much either. And it took me F O R E V E R to actually read. Normally I can read 5 issues in a couple hours. This one took me days of disinterest to get through.

And there were parts I enjoyed! I like the new characters of Alef, Beth & Gimel. I liked the proper use of Yiddish terms in their speech, and, like, ones beyond the standard phrases that every goy in NYC knows

Wonder Woman was drawn kind of weird, reminding me of The Nanny, Steve Trevor is extremely muscular and gives me toxic vibes with him not trusting Diana, and the villains are vampires.

Interesting concept with iffy artwork. I don't care to read what happens next.

X-Men Legends, Vol 2, collecting X-Men Legends (2021) #7-12. Seeing some old-school writers and artists get to bring some ideas from their original runs to life is cool, but I feel like this series will really only be appreciated by those of us who have been reading for the last 40 years or so. Still, a fun collection. The definite highlight for me is seeing Walter Simonson back on the X-characters. He was always a favorite of mine back in the day.

Not quite as well written as Civil War, this story picks up after Captain America turns himself in, only to be assassinated soon after. Not a bad read.

4 stars out of 5 for personal fun but qualitywise its very much the DCEU of X-Men comics.
So little plot so many plot holes. A complete garbage fire of continuity errors, poor motivations and confusing ill-explained story turns.
Even the artwork seems sporadic in quality even during a single issue.

A lot of good ideas in the theoretical sense but little made it onto the page in one piece.

Nice compilation of the G.I. Joe comics written by Larry Hama. If you have seen the cartoon, you will probably enjoy these. The volume contains comics that highlight the character of General Hawk, the team leader. Entertaining read. However, the compilers did pick a comic or two that end in a cliffhanger, and they did not include the follow up tales. So at times, just as a tale was getting good, it cuts off. I did find that kind of annoying, which is why I did not rate it higher. Still, it's a fun and easy series to read if you like G.I. Joe, especially the 80s Saturday morning cartoon (not the crappy movie travesty).

On May 3, 1942, Japanese forces occupied the pacific islands of Guadal canal. The reason the Japanese occupied this area was so supplies could be transported safely through “the slot” safely. “The slot” was multiple islands that kept a secure passageway to Japan and other areas occupied by Japan. So when the Americans were able to take over the island it stopped major different transport ways for japan. In the battle there were two main commanders for the U.S. Vice Admiral William F. Halsey Jr. and Major General Alexander A. Vandegrift. There were also two main leaders for the Japanese army Lieutenant General Masao Maruyama who had beaten allied forces before and thought that the Japanese Bushido (fighting spirit) could conquer any army the other main Leader was Lieutenant General Harukichi Hyakutake who was a bad leader and sent in too few troops to go fight against the U.S. When the U.S. army was able to take over the island there was enough food and water for 4,000 men. When the U.S. first attacked the Japanese first thought it was a raid and didn’t really fight back.

This book was interesting because I had never heard about this battle before I read this book. It was pretty interesting learning about why Japan occupied the island. It’s also really cool how much food and water was on the island. I think that when the U.S. was able to take over the island it was a changing point in the war. It also greatly affected the Japanese. It was also very interesting how the American generals had multiple disagreements and some Generals even retreated. Another cool thing was learning about how many different parts of the army were there.

The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which the United States Marine Corps landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The American invasion, designated Operation Detachment, had the goal of capturing the entire island, including the three Japanese-controlled airfields (including the South Field and the Central Field), to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese main islands. This five-week battle comprised some of the fiercest and bloodiest fighting of the Pacific War of World War II.

After the heavy losses incurred in the battle, the strategic value of the island became controversial. It was useless to the U.S. Army as a staging base and useless to the U.S. Navy as a fleet base. However, Navy Seabees rebuilt the landing strips, which were used as emergency landing strips for USAAF B-29s.½

There were two main art styles in this book. One was so poor I could barely stand to read on (artist Chris Bachelo). Muppet baby x-men odd.

The story revolves around a villain out to kill mutants before they could choose to do the same to regular non-powered humans. Of the several x-men omnibus I have read this is probably on the bottom of the list.

I was satisfied. Larry Hama knows how to write these stories. The art was good, matched the style of the old Marvel Joe tales.

I like how two issues written much later (from 2008) that deal with things that happen in between the original issues are included along side the original stories.

My dearest! My first love! The book that set the stage in my youth for my life. This book takes one of the X-Men, Wolverine, on an adventure to a museum where his blood has a strange affect on an ancient mummy. I will say no more. It has been ages since my first reading, but it is hard for me to forget adventures with friends. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. Good book. One of the first.

Here we have IDW's collection of the original Marvel Comics G.I. Joe series. I remember the first time I read some of these comics growing up and realizing how much better the writing was. The Joe team was much more clearly defined, their base was secret instead of some giant armored compound in the middle of a giant open space, and the missions were much more grounded in reality than most of the cartoon stories. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the cartoon as well, but these comic stories were worlds better.

This first volume collects the first ten issues of the Marvel series. We meet the Joe team (a much smaller and more manageable group than would eventually become standard in the cartoon and toy lines); we see the Joes take on Cobra in the early days when it was just Cobra Commander and the Baroness in charge of everything; we are introduced to regular antagonists (and some time comrades) the October Guard; and we even get our fist look at the Cobra recruitment town of Springfield, USA.

This is G.I. Joe at its best, with minds like Larry Hama, Denny O'Neil, and Jim Shooter running the show. If you have ever enjoyed any version of G.I. Joe through the years, this comic collection is worth checking out.

I love everything Marvel. The storylines are incredible! They have everything you could want: action, adventure, comedy, romance, political intrigue, allegories, metaphors, etc. Some stories drag, some end too soon.

This volume of the saga involves Spider-man, Nathan Grey and X-force, The Punisher, X-Factor, and Wolverine. There are some great stories in this volume that moves the Onslaught story along (X-factor, Wolverine, and X-force) but the Spider-man and Punisher stories fall flat if you're not fully invested in each story line.½

The complexity of the stories starts increasing in this volume, as does some of the seriousness. I have to admit to reading these comics completely to through nostalgia. For a reader who didn't grow up in the 80s the comics probably aren't worth it. They're a mix of reading levels, topics, and there's not much exploration of some of the characters at this point. But for those of us who remember G.I. Joe it's a great trip down memory lane. I'm looking forward to getting more of the volumes.

Like volume 1 this is mostly Wolverine in Madripoor hiding under the pseudonym "Patch" and fighting with local criminals.

Fairly interesting in itself but the novelty wore off quickly with this volume and I really wasn't interested enough to read past the 3/4 mark...

Professor Xavier has now been subsumed by Apocalypse, mayhem and chaos has ensued and it's up to the Marvel Superheroes to try to fight it. Several of the stories are quite interesting in the dicotomy between an ordinary human life and the responsibilities of having power and needing to use it to better other people's lives and keep them alive.½

I thought htis book was ok . I raly don't like no-fiction books but this one was better than most. It told a lot of imformation and I learned a lot too. It talked about how UAV's started, and all the kinds ofUAV's. It also talked about how they work and what they are used for.

This is an inconsistent and incomplete graphic history of the Battle of Iwo Jima. The book mentions lesser known details, such as a group of Japanese botany students stranded on the island, but omits major factors in the battle. For example, the Navajo code talkers are not mentioned at all, and only one of the flag raisers (Ira Hayes) is named. The artwork is appealing, but in terms of a factual representation of the battle there are several books that have done the job better for this age group.
