Syracuse: a handbook to its history and principal… por Margaret Guido
I can't remember whether I bought this guide published in 1963 before or after visiting Syracuse (in 2015 or around that time) and seeing the cathedral that took our breath away. What made me like the book even more than its descriptions were the two used bus tickets tucked into pages 44/45 at the section on the Church of San Pietro. They were tickets Serie Z, L 30, nos. 33164 and 33165. I hope these passengers enjoyed their visit as much as we did.
An archeological study focusing on the investigation and classification of glass beads from approximately c. 700 B.C. - A..D. 410. The study concentrates on the techniques used, forms and uses of the beads and their decoration, methods of manufacture, & colors used. Much of the book is a catalog of extant beads of more interest to the archeologist, perhaps, than the artisan, but the first half of the book is invaluable for its discussion of bead shapes and colors used. Color plates are included along with several line drawings and a bibliography. Highly recommended.… (más)
