This book was so well-written, and draws you into not only Kurt and Beast's world, but the adventure of a lifetime. Grey does an amazing job of showcasing the ways Kurt and Beast experience the world, and it's in a way that's easy to understand, even if you haven't had those experiences before yourself. Once the tension ramps up, the story doesn't let you go (I flew through this in one sitting, I just didn't want to stop reading). The imagery is vivid, and it's like watching everything unfold in front of you, while getting to hear Kurt's inner voice as they narrate. Kurt and Beast might be unlikely superheroes, but they'll always hold a special place in my heart, and I won't soon be forgetting this book!… (más)

Every chapter starts as a reminder that Luce is writing to the Craw Advisory Board as if these chapters represent a new page in Luce's letters. Luce writes ten years after the beginning of the war, informing the board of the suffering she endured during that time. That said, at times it's uncertain what voice is speaking, a 23-year-old or a 13-year-old, so the reading reads as inconsistent and scattered. I also failed to follow a timeline and am unsure how long the accounts take place with only the knowledge the war is only just ending ten years on. Nonetheless, the book reads as if we readers are being scolded for what Luce went through. This is clever writing as the book can relate to current sufferings in this world and therefore makes the story hard-hitting.… (más)

I enjoyed this book. It jumps around a little, but it's still pretty easy to follow. It's a fun read- campy, but enjoyable. I enjoy the non traditional protagonists and the character development.

So this is actually two books in one I think. The first book is absolutely incredible. It’s supposed to be a series of podcast episodes, and the writer does a fantastic job of capturing the character’s voice, and tone. The second book is basically a fever dream in my opinion. It is so outlandish that it actually is incredibly enjoyable. I typically do not enjoy these types of books, but there were so much about this book that I just absolutely adored. The characters are just quirky enough to be endearing. The storyline is absurd, but still fascinating.

I am very aware this will not be a book for many people. But for the people who find it and love it, I think it will be a very enjoyable read.
