This book along with his, "The higher Criticism of the Pentatauch" are Classic refutations of the Graf/Wellhausen Higher Critics theories. His arguments for the 1800's still remained unchallenged and unanswered.
Professor Green served as Professor ofBiblical and Oriental Literature at Princeton Theological Seminary from 1851 to his death in 1896.

William Henry Green was one of the Brilliant Scholars of the 19th Century who was with other shining lights a professor of Princeton Theological Seminary. For forty-five years he was the Professor of Biblical and Oriental Languages (1851 - 1896)
Dr. Green lays the ax to the root of higher criticism's attacks upon the Mosaic authorship of Genesis and displays the consistency, harmony, unity, and beauty of the book.
His arguments point by point destroy the empty opinions of the critics. The arguments he presents show how baseless are the assumptions made by the critics. The subjective methodology results only in "speculative fancy, without the slightest historical value".
His arguments to this day remain unanswered while archeological discoveries continue to strengthen the truth of his position.
