This is not a cute picture book. It's a too long "chapter book" about Ra, an unlikable Pharaoh's cat, and his friends a dung beetle (kids love poop) and the kitchen cat, both smarter and responsible than he is. I doubt reading the first of the series would have provided a better experience.

Ra is Pharoah's spoiled, lazy cat. He'd rather sit by the pool and eat snacks and nap than anything, but he gets pulled into a palace theft by his friend Khepri, the dung beetle. Cute, good illustrations, a decent mystery, and a nice imagining about life in an ancient Egyptian palace. History! Adventure! Cats! Dung! It's really quite fun.
