The old saying goes, the guru (spiritual master) will appear when you are ready, and the guru will disappear when there is no longer a need. All of us are sub-consciously searching for the Divine, some have a definite plan, and some do not.

This powerful, honest book of a disillusioned Western seeker who eventually met his spiritual mentor and followed the path, is a must-read for every spiritual seeker. The author talks about the `dark nights' and other difficulties candidly. The spiritual path is hard enough to tread, and much harder to stay on in the beginning. It takes tremendous effort, determination, good karmas, and blessings from the Divine which only a fortunate few have acquired. It is said that one goes back to the same tradition life-time after life-time. The author's search for meaning took him to his master, who is an authentic Yogi from one of the hundreds of spiritual traditions of India

The author describes the discipline, the social codes of the ashram, and his initiation into the tradition. His time well-spent in India including attending the Maha Kumbha Mela, and pilgrimage to Sri Lanka and trip to China were all truly worthwhile experiences. The magic was only beginning (the author's own words),and life-long spiritual journey was in store for him.

There are numerous other revelations in this book, which only a spiritual practitioner will fully understand. There are also some excellent black and white photos. The author has written several other books and has done a Yoga video taped in the Himalayas
