A good book to introduce these issues to the youngest age range, best used to kick off the conversation vs conclude it. The illustrations were enjoyable.

Everything about it has taken the young reader into consideration. And yes, it is pedagogical; it does carry an overt message about aging, most poignantly about losing one’s inherent strength. Yet, this message takes second place. Every page carries exquisite, pastel illustrations, outstanding page design in type and layout, and offers a palate of visual cues. The elephant’s eyes express the ultimate sadness; the perspective of tiny Arthur hugging the elephant’s trunk shows his vulnerability despite size. But, joy always conquers in these pages. The flawless translation from Catalan, El Petit Artur i L'elefant Sense Memoria to English retains strong storytelling with a simplicity of words. Highly recommended for any young or old reader!

“Maybe I can help!” exclaimed Arthur.

At least he hopes he can. But how?

What does this forgetful elephant need?

Arthur doesn’t know, but he’s determined to find out as he and the elephant share a playful and colorful day.

Arthur and the Forgetful Elephant explores memory loss from the perspective of both those who forget and those around them.

Thank you, Goodreads and Flyaway Books for the chance to read and share Arthur and the Forgetful Elephant with my son!

“{If I forgot EVERYTHING, I’d be sad and lonely and scared.}”

Today I had the chance to share a wonderful story of Arthur and the forgetful elephant by Maria Giron with my son Jackson! It is a beautiful book about friendship and caring. Arthur comes across an elephant crying and when he asks him what is wrong the elephant say he has forgotten his name and where he lives. So, Arthur decides to help the elephant by taking his mind off of what the problem is. It’s a very cute book. My son loved it! It has beautiful pictures bright and vibrant. A story I think any child would enjoy. Happy reading everyone!
