What lives in the Desert? by Oona Gaarder-Juntti tells us that there are both hot and cold deserts in the world. And in order for a desert to be considered a desert, it must get less than 10 inches of rainfall per year. Every continent except Europe has a desert with Antarctica having the largest cold desert! We learn that Gila Monsters, Fennec Foxes, Snakes, and Meerkats are just a few of the animals you can find in a desert. There is a Glossary in the back to help with words like "predator" and "burrow". This is a good book for animal lovers and also for learning about different biomes.
