Frim consulted many sources to come up with all the anecdotes she gives us in this volume. Ever wondered why places have the names they do? For example, why would someone give townships names such as Tiny, Tay & Flos? The simple answer is those were the names of Lieutenant - Governor of Upper Canada, Sir Peregrin Maitland's wife's dogs and he like to name places.

Frim organized her tales geographically starting at the southern tip of Lake Simcoe and following the western shoreline north to Barrie and Orillia and then along the same western shore of Lake Couchiching to the northern tip at Washago where she turns south back to the southern tip of Lake Simcoe. She describes important buildings, usually accompanied by a picture, important men & women who contributed to the development of the area also frequently accompanied by a picture and the lake itself which progressed from a source of food and easy travel to one that is now predominately used for recreation.

Place names such as Bell Ewart, Sutton, Keswick, Guillimbury, Ramara, Brechin and Uptergrove are some places she explains the reason the community developed where it did and where the name came from.

This is great local history which would make a great driving adventure.
