John D. Freyer (1972–)

These days, seemingly one needs to just come up with an interesting premise to get a book deal. Freyer, for example, came up with the idea of selling all his worldly goods to people around the world and then meeting these people to learn their stories.

The interesting premise doesn't deliver the goods though as Freyer roams around (mainly the US but also some foreign climes) and tries to sound deep and wise. The intrusion of September 11 into the plot gives the situation far more gravitas than it deserves and Freyer's concerns following the auctioning of being him at a his birthday party just makes him sound a bit whiny.… (más)
