The plan is divided between a 3 day cleanse and the 28 day meal plan. Each plan has daily menu with meal titles you click and it will go to the recipe. Yay! There is also a list of suggested snacks and a shopping list! Woo hoo! This was extremely helpful. The 28 day section was divided into weeks so that you would get weekly shopping list. Easy peasey.
Each recipe is labeled making it easy to see which recipe is good for anyone with IBS, anyone sensitive to the nightshade vegetables, those that are nut-free, vegan, vegetarian, make ahead and quick & easy. You are given prep and cooking times, servings and nutrition information. My dad is diabetic and I was able to easily see the carb count for him.
The recipes vary from so simple my grandchildren could make them to good thing I know my way around the kitchen. Even those recipes were not difficult to follow. The downside to them is that they do cost a bit more to make. I have found healthy food does in general, (which I think is a conspiracy..Healthy food improves your health which means you spend less on medical things like drugs. Drug companies aren't very happy then are they? I digress. Sorry.). The cost of food may make it difficult to completely change your diet. I have found that portion control really helps with making it a bit more affordable. No second helpings may mean you can cook one recipe and eat it for more than one meal. This would depend on the number of people you are cooking for, of course. If you are unable to afford to follow this type of diet, I would encourage you to try as many of the recipes as you can. Some of them may be more affordable at various times of the year. Another idea to make it more affordable is to see if a family member or friend would be interested in going halves with you. Dividing up the higher priced products may put them within reach of your food budget.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in healthy eating. Though it is directed at those who have Hashimoto, I found the plan to be helpful for a number of issues. As always, check with your doctor or nutritionist if you have a medical condition, are using medication and wish to follow this plan, (or, really, to make any dietary changes).… (más)
