I love reading a book where the female lead (in this case – Violet) is someone I would hang out with in real life! This book was just fun and being inside Violet’s head kept me in stitches. As I haven’t read anything by Cathryn Fox before, I wasn’t sure what to expect – especially when this book kept comparing itself to Crazy Rich Asians. I am so excited to say it did not disappoint!

Who punishes someone by sending them to Nova Scotia?! Colin’s grandfather, who else. As Colin disembarks the plane to endure his punishment for not being wed as family and tradition dictates, he is overcome with dread. While attempting to clear his mind and gather himself (as well as his luggage), a woman runs smack into him, nearly knocking him over! More frustrated than he thought was even possible at this point, Colin takes a deep breath and refocuses his thoughts on doing what is expected: get the paperwork signed so the foundation can build its precious school. Entering the airport bar, Colin awaits his ride from Bryant, the gentleman who also owns the bed and breakfast he reserved. When Bryant enters the bar to meet him, he quickly discovers he is a she. In fact, she is the woman that nearly knocked him off his feet (literally and physically) only a few moments prior. Physical attraction aside, he is here for one reason only and the sooner this deal is done, the better.

Violet is an open book, what you see is what you get. As the owner of the bed and breakfast and a plethora of other hats that she wears – she isn’t looking forward to the sell of the town’s beloved amusement park anymore than the residents; but, having sank everything she owns into it (and opening the bed and breakfast to help supplement expense) she knows it needs to be done and it is out her hands anyway. While she can’t stop the sell of the park, she can show Annapolis hospitality to the Brit coming over to sign the paperwork. What she didn’t imagine is the gorgeous gentleman with a stick up his bum and her B&B guest being one in the same. Despite the fact that he nearly made her heart stop, he is only here to do business and that’s it – leaving like everyone else has in her life. Doesn’t matter either way, they are from two different words so as long as she keeps the town people from grabbing the pitch forks and running him out of town, and keeps her distance – despite what her body is saying, her job is done.

What I like about it: I am still not 100% convinced Lucky is from this world but I loved that cat! I always enjoy a dual POV story but throw in a pet with an attitude and I am sold. While this story is your stereotypical romantic comedy, it was still a ton of fun! I was laughing hysterically before I finished the first two chapters. Violet’s inner monologue is comedic gold. What is even better is when her best friend Emily verbalizes some of those internal thoughts and the reactions around them. I loved how Fox shifted the tone of each character as the story progressed. At the beginning, Violet’s chapters were hilarious, light, and fun. Colin’s were judgmental, arrogant, and prime and proper. As he started to loosen up a bit, his POV chapters started to flow easier with more humor and ease. Mimicking his evolution and growth with his POV is not something I have seen by a writer so it makes his transformation more evident.

What I love about it: I loved how two people who both speak English still had the hardest time understanding each other because of their backgrounds. I about fell over with some of the word confusion.

All in all this book lived up to the hype. Sweet, funny, thoughtful, and insightful – I would read it all over again for the animals alone!

Title: The Body Checker
Author(s): Cathryn Fox
Character(s):
Quinn Reed: Blonde, Blue Eyed
Jonah Long: Brown Eyed, Brunette
Setting:
Tag(s): Romance, Contemporary, Sports, Sports Romance
Content Rating: R
POV: Alternates between Heroine/Hero
Smexy Level: Hot
Favorite Quote(s):
― “I don’t want anyone else but you, I only want you in my bed.”
Overall Opinion:
NHL’s toughest enforcer, the Body Checker, Jonah earned that title the hard way. Being a no strings kind of guy, he is rendered speechless when puck bunny Shari shows up at his door, with a baby in tow. Luckily, Zander, his best friend calls his baby sister Quinn in for a rescue. Quinn is quickly taken by his daughter Daisy and when they play house, lines crossed and they're wondering if making this ready-made family the real deal.

Overall, in regards to “The Body Check”, have you ever read anything and just didn't know how to take it in? Was it good? Was it bad? Was it it even worth the read? “The Body Checker” falls perfectly into that category. The series wasn't rememberable, the characters were just okay, the content was just whatever and you're left with nothing but a fast paced romance. Not worth the finish and I ended up dropping this series by chapter 10 at 51%.

I received an ARC of this story to read and give my honest review.
The story starts with a Sicilian mafia Princess, who is being forced into an arranged marriage with a Russian mafia man, but she wants more for her life. So she ends up running away from her family. The problem with that is, she doesn’t get far because she has no money of her own, so she becomes a nanny. While working as a nanny, she meets a man in a grocery store and it’s instant attraction. What she doesn’t know is that the man, who is a single dad lawyer, is the Russian mafia guy, who also refuses to be set up by his parents. The ensuing romance between these two is oh so swoony, sweet, and fun. (To-do List jar!) But, then reality comes crashing in. When misunderstandings are blown out of proportion, and accusations are made, you think their relationship is over and done. But, you should never underestimate the help of a close friend.

I liked this story from Melissa Ivers. It is a very quick read but brings the heat. You could feel the sexual chemistry between Mick and Tessa. While, Mick may have been older than Tessa, they worked well together. He did have a bit of a horney teenage boy charm about him when it came to Tessa but he was all man behind closed doors. If you were looking for a short story to keep you warm these cold, winter months; you don't need to look any further than Jingle Devil by Melissa Ivers.

Pleasure Control was a short and moderately sexy read with little conflict between two scientists. One is love 'em and leave 'em Jay and the other is "nerdy girl" Laura. Their back stories felt shoe horned in, and never really fully explored although the story relationship Jay had with his mother is mentioned often. I also think there was an overuse of euphemisms for intercourse and the names of body parts. The channel is tunnel where a train runs from the UK to France shouldn't be used to describe a woman's vagina. EVER. Also, wet velvet is ewwwww feeling.

It's a good story. It's well written. The premise is unique a group of friends plan to stay single or pay each other money. It's a bit odd but it plays up the perpetual bachelor who falls for the girl.

ARC.

I like small towns and liked an enjoyed this town and I think that i liked that in the book the best. We meet Kira a mathematician which she will repeatedly, repeatedly mentions this and you get to the point of I got it now can we move along, on a crazy day that she is not watching where she is going a crazy horse comes running down the street And Nate who according to Kira was just the hottest fisherman and she was flabbergasted that he seemed to be flirting with her. I didn't see the chemistry or feel it, because she was nerdy, and a mathematician, and a 27 year old virgin to boot, none of that would have bothered me if I didn't hear it repeatedly and she got over it. They give in and then the secrets come out and Nate is not a fisherman, than what is he.

rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

I love how Cathryn has meshed a Lycan and a Hunter to be mated. I am glad they were able to come back together after all the time away from each other. It made me cry when she left to go "home" to see what damage had been done, but I love the way her mate fitted into her current world. I love these kinds of stories. I want to read more about them.

This short read was like a fun romp in the sack, I really felt like I was involved in a one night stand with the characters. Straight out of a fantasy, New York actress Angie and Hollywood hottie Dylan engage in a one night stand with Texas flair, but THEIR true identities are never exchanged. When they find each other the next day, on a set no less, a one week fling sounds ideal. Of course, it's all beyond unbelievable, but totally fun to read. The characters are immediately likable, especially Dylan, and their instant attraction makes for some fun moments. There's a mix of feelings in there that come on a little too strong, but make for a great happily ever after. The characters are both jaded and finding feelings in the midst of their sweaty fun helps them both realize love is real. Definitely a fun story line and I recommend Tie Me Down Tight to anyone looking for a short, sexy read.

Cathryn Fox lights the lamp with THE PLAYMAKER, the first book in the Players on Ice series. Writer Nina Callaghan asks her childhood nemesis/ brother’s best friend, Cole Cannon, for hockey lessons. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. The story takes place in Seattle.

Cathryn Fox does a great job with her character development and plot. I like Nina. She was a figure skater until she had a career-ending injury. Now she is a romance writer. Her brother, Cason, is in the NHL, so her editor tasks her with writing a hockey romance series. Ironically, she knows nothing about hockey. Therefore, she turns to her brother's best friend/NHL Center, Cole Cannon, who is out due to a concussion. Nina thinks that Cole hates her because he always teased her when they were kids, in reality, he had a crush on her, but she is his best friend’s sister, so she is off limits.

THE PLAYMAKER is a fun and entertaining story. Cole and Nina have great chemistry. My heart went out to both, and some of the things that they went through. I love that they are given this opportunity to reconnect and open to each other. Cathryn Fox does a great job laying out their history. There were a lot of interesting scenes and obstacles that the characters faced. The novel was skillfully written and heartwarming. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.½

REVIEW:  LAGUNA HEIGHTS BY KAIRA ROUDA

Laguna Heights by Kaira RoudaMy rating: 4 of 5 starsSecrets, betrayal, fear. Annie had lived with those most of her adult life. Coping was not easy but she managed until she got the shock of her life. A visit from the past. Now one shocking night of violence threatens to destroy all that she holds dear. Kaira Rouda has written a story that every woman should read. Annie was trapped within a prison that she created to escape the events of the past. Her predicament angered me because she didn't deserve the fall out she had to endure because she trusted the wrong person. The seriousness of this story is evident from the first page. One devastating event led to a spur of the moment the decision that could topple her whole world. Laguana Heights is gripping, heartbreaking and triumphant. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. A stunning piece of fiction that lingers on after the last page.View all my reviews

A chance meeting at a romance convention. Already off to a good start. Cathryn Fox really caught my attention with Betting on the Wrong Brother. I am used to her brand of sexy romance that consists of high volumes of sensuality that bring the body to a boil and touched the emotions. Ryan and Andi's story had some of those qualities but it also tickled the funny bone as well. A traumatic event in her past has made Andi cautious and introverted. Ryan has struggled with self esteem issues as well. The one thing I loved about the What Happens in Vegas series is that it puts romance writers in awkward situations and humanized them. I don't want to give away to much but will say there are a lot of surprises. I received an ARC of Betting on the Wrong Brother in exchange for an honest review. Catherine Fox got it right.

Cathryn Fox has created a story of beauty, betrayal, secrets, grief and second chances.
I received an ARC of His Reason to Stay in exchange for an honest review. Childhood friends Kyle and Rachel have always been a little in love with each other. There has always been a connection that bordered on more than just friendship but in the end they drifted apart and moved on with their lives. Rachel married James (Kyle's brother) and Kyle joined the army. When a heartbreaking loss brings them face to face emotions come to a head and secrets have a way of being exposed. His Reason to Stay is a look at how choices influence lives. A second chance story that has a lot of unexpected turns but was as emotional as it was desirable.

Cathryn Fox is good at what she does. She knows how to grab attention from the very first page and hold on til the conclusion. Tie Me Down Tight is a dirty fantasy come to life. It starts out unbelievably naughty and culminates in a less naughty and more realistic romance. Mixing business with pleasure was a real don't for Angie but when Dylan takes on a role, he gives it his full attention. I received an ARC of Tie Me Down Tight in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. HOT! HOT! SCORCHING HOT!

A Tempting Dare is HOT! Ms. Fox grabbed the ball from Ms. Phillips and ran with it. The electric vibes shooting off between Sebastian and Kat could easily turn ice into boiling water. Kat is a cynic when it comes to love but even a good girl needs a little wickedness sometimes. Sebastian sees Kat as a kid sister or does he? A Tempting Dare brings the spice. A short, risky but fantastic edition to the Kindle Worlds: Dare to Love Series.

Ms. Fox has done it again. She delivered saucy, sexy and emotional in short sweet fashion. The Hands On series is full of heat, but has a great deal of heart as well. The appeal of the Dossier series is "GIRL POWER". Amidst the naughty allure is a strong bond of friendship. Through the storm, these women laugh, cry and encourage other. Even if that means pushing each other to step outside of their comfort zones. Brazilian Fantasy is Piper's story. For Piper Rio De Janeiro is the beginning of escapade. She finds a couple of surprising developments at the end of her destination. (1.) The greatest temptation is one you never saw coming. (2.) Giving away your heart is the biggest risk of them all. Cathryn Fox doesn't hold back with Piper and Lucas. Her aim is tried and true.

Cathryn Fox makes sure readers feel the burn with book 2 in her Blue Bay Crew Series. A spark of attraction is the beginning of heartache, regret and guilty pleasure for Jamie, a working class stiff and Kylee, the poor little rich girl. Leveled offers more than sensual delights, Ms. Fox makes sure she tackles issues like social class and prejudice. Burned by love at a young age, Jamie has a hard time trusting women, particularly ones with money. Kylee is tempting him to rethink that rule, until his past comes back to darken his present. Can two people with the weight of the world on their shoulders defy the odds and build their own happily ever after? Wrapped up in a saucy little romance is a valuable lesson that we all should live by. Respect has no basis in money but in who we are and the code we live by.

Bonding Games is another Cathryn Fox original. Smart, sexy and challenging. Josh and Holly create an allure that is naughty but plays out quite nicely. Ms. Fox spins a web that starts out deceptively innocent, but quickly spirals into wickedly tempting territory. The twist is the lesson that she highlights along the way. Don't judge by what's on the outside, what really matters is what's hidden on the inside. Powerful message wrapped in a knock your socks off read. My favorite read by this author.
