A good account of the complex military situation in Burma, explaining the course of the different engagements between allied and Japanese forces, making it easier to understand the part played by my father's unit, operating in Burma 1944-45. Operating in very inhospitable terrain, in monsoon weather, with great logistical difficulties in re-supply, I have enormous admiration and respect for the fortitude and sheer grit of the XIV Army. Clearly air superiority and especially the development of supply by air-drop, pioneered by the Chindits, was a major factor in the eventual victory.… (más)
