I received this book as part of a blog tour in exchange for an honest review.

I struggled a bit with this one. The concept seemed a bit far fetched and hard for me to wrap my head around.

What would you do if you could kiss someone and see their deepest thoughts? I would probably think I had completely lost my mind. I don't think I would be able to kiss all of those people and not vomit, personally.

This story hits on some tough topics, rape, murder, teen pregnancy, and shouldn't be read by the faint of heart or a younger teen.

I did find myself stumbling at one point with an editing error and it distracted me a bit. "they covered their hands with their mouths" was on the page in the bathroom scene where Winter tries to learn Darcy's secrets. But other than that, it was well edited and well written. I liked the story and the concept, but think the subject matter might have been a little heave for the target audience.

This a definitely a book where tissues are needed, as there are some very emotional moments.

This book is very engaging and it does pull at the heart strings.

I found this book to be well written and the plot consistent

This is the second book in the series even though it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first.

This is set 5 years after the first book ended and we see how Avery has evolved.
This book was a little better than the first and show how the events of the first book have affected Avery.

Another well written read.

Unsure what to expect when I won this book on a Facebook promotion page I was happy to find that this boxed set was definitely worth reading. At first having Simone tell the story from her own perspective and in her own sometimes raunchy and rambling way took some getting used to but once into the story I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. In fact…I had to read the entire 300 pages or so in one night and then opted to download “Carpe di Emily” since it was free at the push of a button and I want to see what else this author has written. I loved the positive outlook of Simone and her willingness to move on from one relationship to the next. I loved her friends and their close knit community. I kept waiting for and hoping that Simone’s dating experiences would work out for her and provide her true love. I won’t spoil the ending BUT will say that I am still hopeful and definitely liked the ending.

*Book source ~ Many thanks to the author for providing a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Winter Reynolds has spent all summer screwing up the courage to leave her phone number with the cute guy at the mall. Now, they are at the movies and he comes in for a kiss and it’s everything she dreamed about until…he says she needs a breath mint. Only his lips are on hers and they haven’t moved. What? Winter’s life is about to be turned upside down by a super power that sounds at first like it might be pretty cool, but turns out to so not be.

When I read the blurb for this I thought it sounded pretty interesting even though I’m not a huge fan of YA. Teenagers do such dumb stuff and can be so self absorbed a lot of time, so I tend to avoid YA. Not always, but usually. I’m so glad I picked this one up. The writing is wonderful and Winter is a pretty interesting kid. Her best friend Miranda, on the other hand, is a piece of spoiled work, but deep down she’s got a good heart. There’s the typical teen angst in this story with crushes, romance, high school shenanigans and bullies, but Winter also has to deal with a murdered girl who was becoming her friend.

Miranda convinces Winter she needs to use her super power of hearing people’s thoughts when her lips touch theirs to find out who killed Annika. A budding romance with Jason makes it difficult for Winter to go around kissing people trying to find out who on the track team murdered poor Annika especially since she told Jason she wants to take it slow. In other words, she doesn’t want to kiss him and get his life story downloaded the second her lips touch his. She wants to get to know him the right way.

Some of the Homecoming Dance scene was a bit off and took too long to get through, but for the most part this story kept me enthralled. It was paranormal and romance mixed with a mystery and it was a good one. The kissing super power though, I’m not sure I’d want that one though it would come in handy for filtering out creeps.
