The Dirt Eaters is an amazing book. This fascinating blend of post-apocalyptic science fiction with some fantasy elements manages to be both thought-provoking and exciting. Read my entire review:

An exciting and powerful conclusion to an outstanding series. Roan comes of age as he struggles to learn to be a leader, and Lumpy really comes into his own, displaying a keen intelligence and insight as well as compassion and empathy. While religious and mystical themes play a role in all the books, they really come to the fore in The Keeper's Shadow as it probes deeply into questions of faith and belief.

Freewalker is book 2 of The Longlight Legacy, a rich, complex blend of fantasy and science fiction set in a post-apocalyptic world. It's a thought-provoking series that deals with issues such as environmental catastrophe, war, and organ harvesting. The plot is exciting, the characters interesting and complex, and the world richly detailed and populated with a variety of interesting cultures. In this second book of the series, we get to know Stowe, Roan's sister, as her story alternates with that of Roan. Stowe is an intriguing character, and in some ways her story is the more interesting of the two in this book.

This book focuses on the relationship between a tree and a bird, and how they each need each other. The bird then needs to leave for the winter and the tree doubts whether or not the bird will ever come back. In the end the bird does come back and everything is as it should be.

The book does a very good job of illustrating their friendship. The writing is quite well done, and fairly humorous in places. The pictures do nothing but support the text so they aren't the most interesting. Overall though the book was well done and I would definetly recommend it.… (más)
