I probably cannot even count how many times I have read this book. Yet each and every time it is a joy and a blessing. Not only do I get caught up in the drama and romance and wonder of the story but I am also encouraged to be a more faithful follower of Christ.
It is always beyond amazing to me how far Fivash goes into deep, and I mean DEEP research to create a whole, alien world. Don't misunderstand--I don't mean alien like a fantasy. In this case, it is the world of the Hebrew Kings. This is not your grandmother's Biblical novel! You will find rich characters, rich situations, lots of imagination (too much for some people, no doubt), and a fascinating emphasis on the way THEY thought about the God of Israel--not necessarily the way we do.
