Judith Poxson Fawkes (1941–2019)

Judith Poxon Fawkes was born in Lansing Michigan. She earned a B.F.A. degree at Michigan State University and an M.F.A at Cranbrook Academy of Art. At Cranbrook, she met her future husband, Tom Fawkes. In 1972, the couple moved to Portland, Oregon, and had two daughters. Judith taught weaving at four colleges in Portland, including Lewis & Clark College. Beginning in 1989, she exhibited her handmade works at Russo Lee Gallery in Portland. Several of them are in the permanent collections of museums, libraries, universities, collectors, and various cities in the USA. Her book Weaving a Chronicle was published in 2012
