Better than chocolate, a blissful treat for a mothers heart and soul!

Purple Leaves, Red Cherries is a collection of beautiful art and inspirational short essays written by mothers, for mothers. It is a total of 48 stories in all divided into 12 sections. This is certainly a book I wished had been around when my children were very little, as that time in my life left me feeling the most alone and vulnerable, when it came to mothering. To read the words of these women brought through some real connection for me and I realized there were times when what I was feeling and thinking was very common amongst other women. In one essay of the book a mother of 2 says "How long does it take, being a mom? When is my shift over?" We all know that mothering is forever, however reading another mothers words about her feelings, helps to validate that one is not going insane, when one has these same feelings. Those feelings any mother may experience, when total exhaustion takes over, and she wishes motherhood was a temporary thing. The fatigue, frustration, feeling of disconnection from the world can be very daunting for any mother, more so for new mothers. Purple Leaves, Red Cherries is a little bible of inspiration for the days when you need it the most. The only thing I found missing from this book are waterproof pages, because then a mother can sneak it into her bathroom, if and when she gets a break, take a soothing tub bath, read and reconnect. This book calms the nerves and soothes the spirit, so she can go on to be a better mother, during those rough periods in her life. I recommend this book to all mothers, whether their kids are snotty and yet in diapers, away in college or she has grandchildren under-foot. Purple Leaves, Red Cherries is a celebration of motherhood and you will totally feel the connection.… (más)
