An interesting glimpse at the world-view and consequent actions of a 19thC 'Indian fighter' for early 20thC audiences. Not surprisingly, a book of its time for white American audiences.

This book's target audience is young preteens, particularly those born in the early 1900s. I started this book because it was one of my grandfather's favorites. My father said that he would periodically re-read it. The author retells old-time stories of his days with Kit Carson, trapping and killing Indians. If you can get used to the protagonists' cavalier attitude toward killing and driving out Indians, then a reader may be able to find a little historical interest here.

The veracity of this book is under dispute. See http://rationalrant.blogspot.com/2007/11/dubious-documents-unlikely-life-of.html… (más)
