Personal reaction: This is such a cute book that should be read and expanded on further with young children 2-4. Every child must learn patience at some point in their life and this book is a great starting point.
Extension: I read this book to my child on a night that I plan to prepare a meal that takes less effort but more time to make. Simply reading a book to a child is fine but in situations where you want a child to understand the central message of the story I feel acting out the story scene by scene the first time is best then follow up with little improvised discussions throughout the week. We have had success using this strategy while potty training at two years old. We make these readings fun and eventful with sound effects and elaborated scenes. We often read and then change the wording of a book if the original wording is to difficult for younger children.… (más)
