More than anything, this book prompted me to look for my lovely. What is my lovely? What are my "1,000 Gifts?" Annie Downs is real and honest in how human she is--how broken she is. This book was the perfect book to read over Thanksgiving.

So some of my lovelies.....where I see God. Or these are the things God uses to remind me He is there:

1.) As I am in the kitchen
2.) Walking around Kathryn Albertson Park (No matter the season)
3.) Gracie's ears
4.) My people: Scott, Mom, and Meghan
5.) Relaxing with a book

There are so many more. But boy, after having some crazy work weeks, I needed to be reminded to SLOW down. Be present. This book helped me

Rare. That's the word that sticks out in my mind. This is a rare book. The kind that's written from the middle. The honest, hard, disappointed middle. And in the midst still finding beauty, hope and love. How sad that we often only see the polished narratives, the ones with endings.

I've been going through what is a really long transition. There's not a lot of people I know who have had an experience like the one I'm currently living. It was so refreshing to read about Annie waiting on something totally different but living with many of the same questions and experiences.

A book that I truly treasure.

I picked this book becausea friend was reading it and I wanted to join her. I really enjoyed the writing style, it's very similar to mine. And there were some very "wow" moments when she mentioned things I'd never thought of!

Instead of the book teaching the reader how to remember God, it's more of the author sharing how she remembered God. Which is very different from other Christian books I have read.

I'm very curious to read some of her other books and see how they are laid out!… (más)

This is a deeply personal book that makes you feel as though you are talking over coffee with your best friend. So many things that we feel, Annie does too, so this makes this a book we can relate to.

This book reminds us that even in our most dire or difficult circumstances, God is there. Even when we question whether He really is. Annie shares her own struggles with wondering if God is truly good, kind and there for her and she goes through very trying times. She is vulnerable with us and truly shares her heart.

Annie is very open in this book and shares the good and bad of her life. I think it spoke to me because she didn't try to sugar-coat her life. She goes through things and has the same types of feelings that we all do. It wasn't always easy reading about her struggles but it was beneficial to see how she points us back to God and His grace and love.

I think this is a book that will definitely speak to the heart of the hurting. Remember God is beautifully written and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
