George Dowbenko

The earliest practical guide to understanding (rather mystically and unhelpfully) and creating (much more successfully) holograms. Its author was by a participant in the San Francisco School of Holography of the early 1970s, which spawned a cottage industry of art-holography and trinket production. Dowbenko communicates the counter-cultural vibe well, but better guidebooks were to come (notably Unterseher's _Making Holograms the Easy Way_).
