{My Thoughts} – Selkie wants to be normal. She tries to tell herself that she can be normal if she tries hard enough. She wants to believe that she can do normal things, go out with her friends, date, have a job etc… Selkie is anything but normal though and sooner or later she will realize it.

The best thing about this series is that it’s about a teenage girl that thinks she has to be just like everyone else. That she has to conform to what is considered the norn of everyone around her. She was home schooled and now attends High School. She has no friends and her Aunts are incredibly strange.

She is a pocketer, in other words she collects random things and keeps them in her pockets in case she may need them another time in her life. It’s interesting that she gets a job working for someone that does nearly the same thing. Has shelves full of discarded unwanted items in her store.

She gets her job through the help of another girl from school. This is where we get to know more about Kelsey. I have to admit I love her character as much as I love Selkie and Ben’s.

This was a really nice short story that helped to give more insight on the storyline. I can’t wait to read book number two. This series is definitely one that I find enjoyable and entertaining!

{My Thoughts } – This book was rather enjoyable. I liked that it wasn’t common when it came to the whole let’s tell an unusual tale.

Selkie Stewart of Boston is led to believe that she is just an ordinary seventeen year old girl that lives in Boston with her two Aunts True and Virtue. She has a best friend named Kelsey and a boy named Ben that seems to help her keep everything in her life together, without really trying in her eyes, he makes everything alright. In his eyes, her world would crash down before her if it weren’t for him.

One day she decides to go against everything her aunts have told her and she tells Ben her birth date. Once she does this everything changes. She then starts asking more and more questions about her mother and everyone tells her to stop asking questions. No one wants to tell her who her mother really is. She also goes on and on about how her life doesn’t make a lot of sense and how everyone around her seems to always talk in riddles. I can understand where she is coming from by wanting to know who her mother is, and by wanting people to be honest with her. That is human nature, you want people around you that you can trust. However, that isn’t the case for her, human nature, it is far from it…

“This is all insane. I cannot believe I’m sitting in my kitchen, next to the boy I’m in love with {faerie}, my aunts {ogres}, and the owner of a museum in Salem {wizard}. This has to be a dream, right? It must be a dream.” {The end of Chapter 9}

What she beings to learn is that she is not of the human world but of the Otherworld. A world where all sorts of creatures seem to live. The world where her mother lives and is looking for her and wants her back so she can kill her. It is a really well written story, it is full of adventure, it is fast going and it is wonderful on so many levels.

I really do hope that I can soon find out what happens to Selkie, and what happened to Ben and what becomes of her mother. I am not one that is fond of cliff hangers, so I am officially wanting to read book two like yesterday. {smiles}

{My Thoughts} – Selkie and Ben take their adventure to the next level. Kelsey, Will and Safford are all along for the ride. They are in the midst of trying to prevent an all out battle from taking place, a battle that seems to be in the favor of the Seelie. We learn so much more about the other Feys involved in the prophecy as well as more about Selkie’s aunts and her dad, and Ben’s mom and Selkie’s mom. There is so much that takes place in this book, I can’t believe how much was written into this book.

This is a fast paced story that just goes and goes, there isn’t much time for a break because something always seems to be happening. It’s unbelievable how much happens and how fast. It is one of those types of adventures you should probably buckle up for because it’s going to be a fast and incredible ride.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it helped to add to the storyline as well as to conclude it in such a thought provoking mind boggling way. I love the twist that was thrown in, in the end of the book, it was just perfect for the storyline, absolutely perfect. If you enjoyed the first book, I am sure you will enjoy this book. It is written so wonderfully!
