I am not the world's biggest fan of flash fiction. I do love short stories but have often found the extremely short flash fiction style just leaves me hanging, scratching my head and saying that's it? It's over?
That was not the case here, where most of these stories have a satisfying conclusion or had me saying Aha! I see what you did there. If you are looking to snack on some crunchy bits of bite sized fiction I can recommend this well written anthology, chock full of sorrow, fear, dark humor and horror.

This is a quick read that features a spooky little town with an unusual bridge that seems to attract suicides. A reporter in need of a rousing story attempts to get the scoop but none of the townspeople are willing to speak openly about it.
Not to be deterred, even when she experiences first hand what happens at dusk, she may come to regret her pursuit of the truth.
I would have liked to see the back story fleshed out a little more, because there was a very clever and creative idea behind it all.

I'm fast becoming a Calvin Demmer fan and if you love short horror stories as much as I do you will want to check out his latest collection Dark Celebrations. As we travel through the calendar not only of holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving but also through special occasions like prom we are treated to a supernatural smorgasbord featuring ghosts, zombies, witches, and more. From pranks gone wrong, to the poor soul who just wanted to take a hot girl to prom after being dumped by his girlfriend, what seems to start as just an ordinary event leads to dire consequences and unforeseen horrors.

These two short stories are a quick and creepy good time.
In Highway Hunger a court ordered community service gig is more than just a punishment as one man comes face to face with a road demon.

In Motel Madness a woman awakens in a strange room with no memory of how she arrived or what has happened to her traveling companions.

Both stories share an underlying theme of revenge and retribution with a bit of dark humor thrown in.
