Overall: This book provides information on the 8 classical planets and 5 dwarf planets, combined with real pictures and realistic, animated pictures. It begins with an overview of the solar system, how the solar system was formed, introduces the sun, and then dives into the 13 classical and dwarf planets. Aside from scientific information, this book also includes a little snippet about why each of the planets is named what it is in relation to the Roman gods and other historical figures (background knowledge).

-Planets
-Origin of solar sytem
-Sun
-Solar systems
-Asteroid belts

Strategies/uses:
-At the end of the book, a "solar system in a grocery bag" activity is explained... This would be a great
way to help students visualize proportions of the solar system.
-There is also a graph with various numerical figures about each planet/dwarf planet, including sun
position, diameter, density, temperature etc.. Students could discuss the benefits of including figures like
this in informational texts.
-Let's say students are researching planets. How could they use a table of contents to quickly find
information about a specific planet?
