Mister Grumpf is a close cousin to Ryan T. Higgins' Mother Bruce: a big ol' grump with a heart of gold. He drops what he's doing to help all the other animal friends in the forest. When he finally returns home, he finds his front door completely obscured by a giant pile of leaves. In a fit of anger, he breaks his broom and stomps away to cool off under a tree; meanwhile, his friends help him out in return for his help earlier.

Lovely autumnal color palette; landscape orientation; a mixture of panels on each page (sometimes just one, sometimes as many as five).

I adore the entire series, but First Spring is my absolute favorite. The art is as beautiful as it is in previous volumes and the story...the story is lovely and poignant.

Dav has done it again he’s taken the simplest of young graphic novel and run the reader through every emotion possible. From happy, to rip my heart out sad, but also hopeful. Every emotion! Only the best of the best can do this, and Dav has proved over and over again that they are the best. I want every book in this series. A personal hardcover copy that I can share with my niece and nephews that they can share with their children and on into the future. These books have a lasting story that will want to read over and over again

A five star read. This book is both a picture book and a graphic novel. Do you remember Archimedes the owl from the animated Sword in the Stone? All that attitude but a kind heart, that’s what you get in this book. An old owl just wants to sit and read and sleep but the kids outside are driving him nuts. However, he discovers that what the kids like to do is actually fun and eventually gets in on the games and the laughter. Loved everything about this book, the artwork, the sentiment, the storyline. This is perfect for all ages.

Poor Mister Grumpf just wants one thing. He just wants to clean up his leaves but his neighbors are so needy they can't see how much of a pain they are. I related to Mister Grumpf so much. This was a cute book for kids. Glad I was able to read.

A cantankerous owl rediscovers some of the joys of youth in this playful picture book. There's very little dialogue, but Dav's lovely, warm art tells the tale so well that words are hardly needed.

The young fox, the snow, the looong scarf, and the pretty vixen. Great fun story for any age or language. Written with few words and illustrated in brilliant color by the same great imagination. LOVED IT!

Another adorable entry in Dav's seasonally themed series. This one has a fox struggling with an over-long scarf, which leads to a playful and sweet romance with a vixen.
