The start of a new cozy mystery series based in coastal North Carolina, this novel was fast-paced, suspenseful and fun. Most of the characters are likeable (except the murder victim) and each was realistically flawed and believable. The author vividly depicts the small beach town in exquisite detail, so much so that I pictured myself alongside the lead character. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. It's a quick and easy read, good choice for a summer beach read. I'll be looking out for a sequel.
