Lyndsey D'Arcangelo

After thoroughly enjoying Lyndsey D'Arcangelo's The Crabapple Tree, I was very disappointed by the terrible writing in this book. Awkward dialogue, mega-cheesy poetry I had to skim or skip over to minimize my cringing. It was a cute enough storyline, as I remember, and it was nice to have a gender-nonconforming lesbian protagonist, as in The Crabapple Tree, but sadly not a novel I could recommend. I am also so done with the "popular-girl-falls-for-a-girl-and-realizes-her-life-has-been-meaningless-and-shallow" trope, which, alas, features here prominently.
