I first read this Christopher Pike style book at some point in elementary school and have re-read it several times since. It's not the best written book and it's certainly not literary, but it's a fun novel with intriguing characters and I will likely read it several more times :). P.S. "Don't call for help. He may just kill you."

Creepy, rundown hotel on a creepy, foggy island with creepy, mysterious locals? Yes, please! This book was atmospheric with just enough teen romantic angst to keep it interesting. Felt similar to Party Summer by R.L. Stine but there's only one protagonist instead of a bunch of them. There could have been a little more investigating on Carolyn's part, but that may have given away too much of the plot twist in the end.

I thought I had the killer all figured out, but boy was I wrong! With the exception of a racist Halloween costume, this books still stands up to a modern day reading. It was a fast, fun read. Nice autumnal ambiance throughout.

Reminiscent of I Know What You Did Last Summer. I don't think this is Tankersley's best, but I did enjoy it. The end had a nice twist and I only figured out half of it before the reveal.

I've read a few of this author's books now and I like how her teenaged characters feel and act like real teenagers. Don't get me wrong, I love Christopher Pike, Caroline Cooney, etc. but their teenagers always act like they're 35 or something.

The story and twist are nothing special, but I massively enjoyed reading this book. It does a good job at keeping you guessing. Really more of a mystery with psychic/supernatural elements.

This is my second book by this author and now I will definitely be reading anything I can get my hands on by her. This particular novel will benefit from a re-read. There is so much that is said in passing that seems inconsequential but really is a small piece of the overall puzzle. I loved the setting-a creepy castle with hidden passageways. There is also a renaissance faire taking place on the grounds, but most of the novel is set at night in the castle. I like how everyone is a little weird so there are no clear suspects. The characters were well fleshed out and distinct. The main character, Jenny, is badass and smart. That was refreshing because usually in these YA 90s books the main character is either badass or smart, but never both. Overall, I loved everything about this book- the mystery, the setting, and the characters.

This is my first time reading this author even though I was a teen when she was publishing these books. I devoured the books put out by Christopher Pike and Caroline B. Cooney. I had heard about RL Stine, but never read any until I was an adult. If you like 90's teen horror books then you'll enjoy this book. It has a few legit creepy moments and a nice twist. I will definitely continue to read this author's work.

This was an okay read. Not really much to say about it as it was like watching a B horror movie. I wasn't too impressed. It is about a high school girl that works at the mall and she has a fixtated stalker. I didn't have any "scare tactics" on this one. Three stars.

This book was okay and it seemed to grab me at first, but as time went on, it just slowly dropped off for me. The book is about a woman named Pamela who has a car accident and wakes up in a house full of strangers. With a slight case of amnesia and not remembering how she ended up in the backwoods of the Ozarks, except she has a small memory of her husband warning her not to get stranded in the Ozarks, the mystery begins. The family that takes her in is a mish-mash of characters and I never could feel connected to them. It kind of became repetitive of Pamela trying to remember and wanting to get out of that place to the family telling her she wasn't leaving. Most of the book was about Pamela wanting to escape and the family wanting to keep her. I had a hard time trying to get through the book and it ended up being a flop for me. Though this book has received a lot of great reviews, it just didn't do anything for me. Two stars for this one.

A group of teens (Belinda, Hildy, and her drunk boyfriend Frank) are coming home from an April Fools’ Day party. Hildy is driving but drunken Frank keeps grabbing the wheel. He starts banging into another car when the car tries to pass them. Then the car vanishes over the cliff and blows up. Belinda runs down to help, but her friends drag her away, and they leave. Belinda is convinced someone was standing at the top of the hill, watching them. For weeks afterwards Belinda is haunted by the car in flames and a face in the window, crying for help. Belinda tutors in her spare time. She is contacted for a job tutoring a teenage boy (Adam) who was recently in an accident. Could this be someone who was in the car crash and survived? He sometimes hints that he has seen her before. Adam also has a brother (Noel), who seems friendly and is interested in Belinda. As time goes by, Belinda receives warnings and threats…

This was just an okay read, at first. Belinda was alright, but her best friends (Hildy and Frank) were totally annoying and were lousy “friends”. As the book progressed it got better. I liked Adam and Noel’s butler (Cobbs). He was a very interesting character. I was curious to find out who was threatening Belinda, and I enjoyed the revelations at the end of the book.

An entertaining young-adult mystery by Richie Tankersley Cusick.

"A young girl is forced to move into a broken-down house in the country—and she and her new stepbrother discover its hidden horrors . . ."

Martha, her father, stepmother and stepbrother move into a rundown house in the country which looks and feels like a haunted house, and when she finds out that the house was on the market because a murder had taken place there, she is understandably upset. So you can imagine how she feels when she learns that the murder victim was a girl her own age, who even looks like her. When she starts school at the local high school, along with Conor, her stepbrother, she makes friends pretty quickly, but they figure into the murder mystery, too.

This was a very well written book. In fact, the setting was described so well, you might find yourself looking over your shoulder while reading it! The story itself led you along at a good pace, and you're given just enough clues to start making your own guesses as to who the culprit is.

This was a quick read because it's not a super long book, and it was well written. I liked the characters and liked the story, and am therefore giving it 5/5 stars.

I received a copy of this book free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion.

Podle filmového scénáře Josse Whedona zpracovaný napínavý román o dívce, která je vyvolena k boji s králem upírů.
