A Lenten devotional which starts each day with a line from an old hymn and then includes a reflection as to how that pertains to modern life. The old/new approach will definitely appeal to many readers as they look to apply classic spiritual thoughts to their own lives.

Somehow it feels sacrilegious to say I didn't like a book about spirituality. I consider myself to be spiritual, I am Episcopalian, and I have depression. Unfortunately this book did not meet my expectations - I felt that I had to finish reading it even though it was a great effort to do so.

There is nothing--and I mean nothing--on earth from which we cannot grow in wisdom and compassion. Whether or not we choose to do it is not up to God. It is up to us. . . .
Through the ages, the beautiful Book of Psalms has spoken with unfailing wisdom to lost and troubled souls. It still does today.

I don't have to read this to know I will like it!
