Enjoyable anthology of near end of life poems, focussing on minimalism, simple experiences bringing joy and emotion,. I liked 'Fox'. 'stop and stare at me as if he owned my bright-lit lawn', 'Moselle to the Rhine', a cruise down the Rhine at odds with war, several sad poems about prostate cancer and making the most of it, 'the cancer in my bones twitches and nip', but 'magical to stay alive, to welcome each new day' and earlier 'Retired, I'm free at last'. Cox was an eminent professor of English literature at the University of Manchester and saw the best in everything.
