Includes explanations and facts about solar eclipses. Animal characters and comic-ish make it unattractive to me for a read-aloud. Contains eclipse mythology. Good for display or selection for one to read independently.

Summary: A story about divorce and how a child deals with it from being with one parent to another. The dog in the story is a symbol of something stable in the boy's life.

Excellent book! Might have to practice a few times before reading it aloud because one or two words or tongue twisters. lol. Fun, fun book for toddlers and up.

What a great vocabulary lesson. Each page has animals and they are either fast, or sleepy, etc. Then they give you other ways to say the same thing.

Dogs in Space is long out of print, but it's available used and is one of my favorite books to read aloud to young children. Richly colored pastel-drawn dogs "blast off from Planet Earth for a solar system tour." They journey in turn to each of the planets, finding something not quite hospitable on each one ("Ah-choo! Dogs in space sneeze red dust on the planet Mars.") Having traveled to Pluto, they reflect on the things they like about space (for instance, "There are no cats in space.") But they miss warm laps and dog bones so they return to planet Earth, "for now."

This story is about a girl whose parents are going through a divorce. She has a dog named Fred, and every parent's house she goes to, she brings him with her. Fred is like her security blanket in her parent's divorce. Her parents become frustrated with the dog and do not want the dog to live with any of them, and she proclaims Fred doesn't stay with you, Fred stays with me!
This story is a cute story to read to children who may be going through a divorce as they can relate to the main character who I think uses Fred as her constant figure when her world seems to be shaken up a little.
I wouldn't feel comfortable reading this book to my students, I think divorce is a personal issue, but I would leave this in my library for students who may be going through this.

This book is about a girl that has to travel back and forth since her parents are divorced. She describes the differences between both homes yet she brings her dog Fred with her. Even though Fred is a trouble maker, he is the one that helps keep the little girl company and make her happy. Many of the pages in the book are plain and dark which may be used to describe how she is feeling throughout the story.

This is a great book reminding parents that divorce is not just about them, it is about their children. The main character and Fred, the dog have a unique bond that keep them inseparable throughout transitions from Mom and Dads house.

A little girl's dog, Fred, stays with her whether she is at her mom's house or her dad's. His loyalty helps her through a tough time. This is a good book to share with children going through a big change like parents getting divorced. It shows them that having something consistent like at least one good friend can make you feel at home wherever you are.

Fred is the child's dog that always stays by his side whether he is at his moms house or his dads house. His parents may get annoyed by the dog but they know that the dog is important to their child so they find a way to make it work. This is a great book to teach children that friendship comes in many forms.

This book would be read to children 4 and up. The book is about a young girl who lives back and forth between her divorced parents, but her dog Fred always stays with her everywhere she goes. Fred ends up causing issues and both parents no longer want fred but the little girl says fred stays with me! she ends up coming up with a agreement with her parents and finds a solution to help fred with all the trouble he causes. The story can help children relate if they have a divorced family, relationships with a pet that causes trouble, and the struggles and emotions the little girl went through.

A touching story of a young girl and her dog, Fred. This young girl is constantly being moved back and forth from mom and dad, who are divorced. She always has Fred by her side, even when both her parents want to get rid of him. Fred is the one constant in her life and she depends on him every day. Without him, her life would become very sad and lonely feeling.
It shows the reader what it can be like for a child in this situation. Not all children have two parents, some don't have any and it's important to think of them and how these types of events affect them on a daily basis.

This is a sweet story about a young girl who lives back and forth between her divorced parents, but her dog Fred always stays with her. At each of her parents homes, Fred causes trouble by either barking at the neighbors dog or eating socks. Eventually, the parents get sick of the trouble Fred causes and they both say that he can't stay with them anymore. She insists that Fred does not stay with either of them, he stays with her. She compromised with her parents and Fred became friends with the neighbors dog, and she got him a new chewy toy so that he doesn't chew up socks anymore. This is a great story about friendship with an animal, also while addressing divorce. Many children can relate to the feeling in this story.

This book is about how she lives two lives. One with her mom and one with her dad. She has two houses, two beds. Things are different now but she has the same friends and still goes to the same school. Of all the things that have changed, one of the things that has stayed the same is that her dog, Fred always stays with her.
Divorce is sadly something that a lot of kids in our class will probably have to face. I think that this a good book to show that although it is a sad, hard, and confusing time for them and a lot of things are going to be changing, there are a lot of things that they will still be able to count on to stay the same.

"Fred Stays with Me" is wonderful and necessary. The little girl in the book sometimes lives with her mom and sometimes lives with her dad, but no matter what, she always has Fred the dog with her. She tells about how she has two rooms and can still have the same friends and school. She also shows each parent's frustration with Fred either barking too much or eating all the socks, but their frustration is never with the little girl, which I appreciated. Fred and the little girl go to the park with mom and the lake with dad. Fred the dog is such a constant in this girl's life and she can always count on him to be there. I think children of divorce need constants and support in their life. Especially having something travel with them through the transitions of living situations. It was cute when neither parent wanted Fred to stay with them and the little girl simply says ,"Excuse me, Fred doesn't stay with either of you. Fred stays with ME!" This was something that was all hers that she didn't have to share.

I enjoyed this book for its simple vocabulary, and its important theme. This story is about a little girl who often travels to her to her dad's house or her mom's house, because they are divorced. No matter what, her dog Fred stays with her and goes back and forth to the different houses. The main theme in this story is companionship and loyalty. Even though her parents are often frustrated with Fred making a mess, he stays with the little girl and they are loyal to one another. This would be an important book to read in the classroom because it might be a book that some students with divorced parents can relate to. I enjoyed the main characters in this story because they were believable characters, and the friendship between the girl and Fred was so believable. The illustrations were also cheerful and gave off a happy feeling. Overall, this is a good story for children to be able to relate to and learn from, because of the overarching message and theme.

This is a great way to introduce children to space and the some basic facts of each planet. The illustrations will catch the child's interest and the vibrant colors will pull the child into the book. This happens all the while the dogs are having fun in space. I would recommend this book for kindergarten and first grade.

Fred Stays with Me is a children's picture book about a little girl whose parents are divorced, but has a friend like Fred to help her through the hardship. Although the little girl has two separate lives with each of her parents, one thing that stays the same is that no matter where she goes, Fred stays with her. This picture book deals with the subject of divorce and how it affects one little girl.

This was a quick, cute book! This little girl is all about her dog, Fred. Her parents are divorced, but this isnt your typical book about that because the focus is on Fred. He follows his owner, who is nameless in this book (which is interesting,) whether she stays with mom or dad. He can be a bit of a trouble maker, but they solve the issues so that everyone is happy, especially Fred.
