Marjorie Cleves, A term at Crossways...and other stories of school life and adventure, Epworth Press, 1939. The cover design shows a girl with a dog, presumably the dog, Simon, that interfered with a girls' hockey match. Simon was a lovely dog but newcomer Erica Standing didn't realise dogs were not allowed at Crossways. Erica was accompanied by other girls to learn how hockey was played. The dog interfered and early promise of Erica's hockey career disappeared as she ended up in front ion the schoolmistress. There is little reference to sport elsewhere but there is a colourful, bright and well drawn blond hockey goalkeeper prominent on the spine and on the colour plate 'Chums' opposite page 49, there are 2 girls. one carrying a tennis racket and tennis balls.… (más)
