- Henry Winston Peregrine Spencer-Churchill, always known as Peregrine, was a son of John Strange Spencer-Churchill and his wife Lady Gwendeline Bertie.
He was a nephew of Sir Winston Churchill. Peregrine and his siblings grew up in close proximity to Sir Winston's children
and were frequent visitors to their estate at Chartwell in Kent.
Peregrine was educated at Harrow and at Cambridge University, and married
twice.
He became a senior trustee of the archives containing the personal papers of Sir Winston and members of his immediate family.
He arranged a deal between the Churchill family and the
British Government over the sale of some of the papers to fund restoration work at the Oxfordshire
churchyard where Sir Winston and his kin are buried. He was the author of a biography of his grandmother, Jennie, Lady Randolph Churchill.
