Nick E. Christians, PhD, is Professor of Horticulture at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, where he has taught courses and conducted research on turfgrass management and physiology since 1979. The author or coauthor of hundreds of papers, articles, book chapters, abstracts, and books including The mostrar más Mathematics of Turfgrass Maintenance, Fourth Edition (Wiley), Mathematics for the Green Industry (Wiley), and Scotts Lawns: Your Guide to a Beautiful Yard, Christians has been the recipient of numerous honors, including the Iowa Legislative Teaching Excellence Award and the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Society for Horticultural Science. His research centers on fertility management of turfgrasses and the development of natural herbicides for use in the turf industry. He is the author of more than 1,100 published articles, extension publications, research reports and journal articles on the subject. He has received a number of awards for teaching, research, and advising and holds the rank of University Professor at Iowa State University. Dr. Christians is very active with the turf industry locally, nationally and internationally and presents information each year on his research at a variety of industry related events, including an annual field day at Iowa State and a winter turf conference held in Des Moines, IA. He is currently co-chair for the North Central Extension and Research Activity for turfgrass association (NCERA-221) and is helping to plan the annual meeting at Iowa State University. Dr. Christians teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in turfgrass management at Iowa State.

When I bought my home over a year ago, the lawn I inherited was... let's say it had character. The norm was wild overgrowth in some parts. In other areas it appears one of the previous owners attempted an ambitious xeriscaping project, partially succeeded, and then gave up. And in little patches here and there, there's actually grass. In sum, I'm trying to rehabilitate the lawn as a whole, but I need help. Enter Scotts Lawns.

It's been said before by other reviewers and I agree: This book really is the best all-in-one guide to a gorgeous, healthier lawn. I recommend it whether you intend to read it cover to cover or to consult it as needed like a field guide.… (más)
