I have always been fascinated by the Templar Knights and have read several books about their history, Scott Chapman's story grabbed my interest right from the very beginning. What ever became of the accrued wealth of this special order of Knights - it was said that their coffers were overflowing and Kings were borrowing money from the order? The story line of "The Templar Vault" addresses this question. The author takes readers back to medieval times, beginning the story just prior to the overthrow and massacre of the Templar Knight Order. Sensing doom, the leader of the order assigns his most trusted Knight on a mission to safeguard their writings, history and wealth. This trek takes them across Europe, England and finally ends in northern Scotland - all along their travels, people are avoided as the knights are now considered criminals with large bounties on their heads. Only the head Knight, known as "The Mason", is aware of the mission and final destination. These Knights are courageous and fierce fighters, highly dedicated to the Order, and follow their leader blindly in support of his mission.

A modern day treasure hunter has followed the Templar's history for years and is piqued by a local's comment about the Templar Order while on a forced holiday in Scotland. He confers with his boss and another Templar history expert, soon deciding to follow-up on this new lead to find the legendary buried treasure, which some say is the Ark of the Covenant.

The author goes back and forth between times in this story, giving readers an opportunity to stay a step ahead of the fortune hunter, then subconsciously coaxing him on along the way. We never find out what the Knights are transporting, but do witness the fierce dedication to their order...going to extreme levels in order to keep this mission a secret.

I am aware that the author is currently working on a follow up book and can't wait until it is published to find out what happens next. Thoroughly enjoyed "The Templar Vault" and highly recommend it to all. Great job Mr. Chapman!
