I thoroughly enjoyed this version of the frog princess. It was a cute tale about three brothers that needed to find a wife because their mother said it was time. Once the three boys found their potential wives, their mother gave the women three tasks in which they were to excel in to become the king and queen. I love this version, I would suggest it to other teachers, and I would have it in my classroom library.

"The Frog Princess" was very different than other fairytales, but similar with the ending. The story started with a queen having three sons that liked too much of one thing. One son liked to eat. One son liked to change costumes and the last son liked looking a insects. The mother was fed up and made her sons compete to win a spot for king, but they have to marry. When the sons found there wives, their mother gave them several challenges, and the most successful would win. The son who liked insects, met a frog and the frog helped him win the challenges. When he told the frog he would marry her, she turned into the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He is the one who won the challenges and got to live happily ever after with his princess. This plot was different throughout but had the same fairytale happily ever after ending. The illustrations portrayed the events that were taking place in the story, but had multiple scenes on one page.

This is such a sweet story. The prince trusted the frog and the little frog didn't let him down with each competition. Although he didn't want to marry a frog he didn't want to hurt the little frogs feelings and his kindness is what broke the spell. I loved how his two brothers found wives perfectly suited to them. One was a bread maker and just as round as the prince. The other prince found a thin princess who loved clothes as much as he did.

This story is about three princes who must find a bride. The queen gives them a bow and arrow and they must shoot and whoever the arrow lands on will be their potential bride. The youngest son ends up with a frog. The princes and their brides to be complete the challenges. The final challenge is training a dog which the frog completes with ease. The queen is happy and tells the youngest son to marry his bride. The frog turns out to be a princess who was under a spell and since the prince agreed to marry the frog the spell is broken. I found this version fascinating because the known version of this story is one that shows the frog as being the prince. It was interesting to read it this way.

Acceptance is a theme that stands out to me in this book. This book would show students to get to know someone before passing judgment.

An interesting retelling of the classic story of The Princess and The Frog. In The Frog Prince, rather than there being a princess, there are three princes, who are competing to be King. Their mother has told them to find brides, and each of the brides will have to complete three tasks: baking, knitting, and training a puppy. Unlike his other two brothers, Marco’s bride happens to be a frog. Throughout all of the tasks, the frog tells him, “Trust me. All will be well.” Marco does not doubt the frog, and in all three tasks, his bride is the cleverest. When Marco’s mother declares his bride the winner, he tells the frog that his mother wishes him to marry her. The frog jumps out of the pond and turns into a beautiful princess. The princess tells Marco that she was under a witch’s curse and only a marriage proposal could break it. The two go back to the castle and live happily ever after.
I absolutely love this retelling of The Princess and The Frog. Cecil’s decision to switch the gender roles ultimately transformed the story into something new. Clark’s fun and colorful illustrations helped bring the story to life. Flipping through the pages, readers can feel like they are a part of the story, and even be able to cheer on a brother or two. A great book for all elementary students. With its lesson of not giving up, no matter what the situation may look like, you can never know what is truly hidden within. This would be a great motivator book for students as well as introducing them to a version of a classic folktale.

They lived happily ever after. I would read this book to my students to deepen their understanding of folktales.

A different take on a classic tale. This story is about three prince's who are competing to be king. Each have a princess that must complete three tasks to win the crown, but one of the brothers has a frog princess. Although the frog princess completes the challenges and her and the prince win the crown. In the end she transforms from a frog to a regular princess, and they live happily ever after.

Teaching Ideas: beauty on the inside, acceptance

The Frog Princess is sort of like The Frog Prince at the end of the book when they live happily ever after and the frog turns into a princess. Prince Marco is always dreaming and dazing at the flowers and grass outside while his brothers work on cooking and sewing. Their mother, the queen, insisted they find wives. She gave them all bow and arrows and seen where they would go. Marco's arrow goes in a ditch and finds a frog. He realizes that the frog will be his wife. After the frog's kindness he asked the frog to marry him. With that, her spell was broken and she was a beautiful princess. They married and lived happily ever after.

There are three hundred variants of The Frog Princess found throughout Europe. Laura Cecil has retold from the Italian versions. This tale is illustrated with colorful, engaging, and cartoonish watercolors. When Marco finds his bride, she’s not like his brother’s wives. However, Marco’s bride proves to be someone very beautiful inside and out.

The Frog Princess was about three brothers competing to become king. Their brides had to complete three tasks. The problem with one of the brothers was that his princess was a frog. His princess ends up completing all of the tasks and they became king and queen. The frog turned into a beautfiul princess. I really enjoyed this book, and I would definitely read this to my class. I would have my students come up with tasks to complete.

This was a different interpretation on an old fairytale where the frog is a princess. The prince finds out that his bride-to-be is a frog and she performs many acts of kindness for him. The prince obliges to marrying the frog and she magically turns into a beautiful woman. They live happily ever after. Cool twist on this story!

In this version of the frog princess, a queen has three sons, a son who loves to eat, a son who loves to dress, and a son who loves to dream. one day the queen decides that her sons must marry. She tells them to shoot an arrow and where it lands they will find their bride. the first son's arrow lands in a bakery, the second sons arrow lands in a tailor's,and the third sons lands in a pond. As you can imagine the third son finds a frog. The queen set tasks for the brides to learn who will run the kingdom. The frog princess wins and turns back into a girl when the prince agrees to marry her. this is a good story about not judging by appearances.

This was a very cute book with a twist on "The Frog Prince." Instead it was a frog princess and a Prince in search for his true love. This would be a very cute book to read to younger children.

Marco is the youngest of three sons and the only one who hasn't found his perfect girl to marry. He stumbles along a little green frog. The queen gives him three tasks to do and for each one, the frog helps Marco look good in front of the queen. He finally asks the frog to marry him and it is transformed into a beautiful princess. The pictures are beautiful watercolor and make for a fun fairytale book for all ages!

Hazel Rochman (Booklist, February 01, 1995 (Vol. 91, No. 11))
Stories featuring the frog bride are becoming as popular as those about the frog prince. Lewis' version drew on Russian folklore. Now Cecil draws freely from Italian versions to tell the fairy tale of three princes commanded by the queen to find a wife. Bruno loves to eat, and he finds a baker's daughter. Lucca loves clothes, and he finds a tailor's daughter. But the youngest son, Marco, is a dreamer, and the only bride he finds is a little green frog. The queen sets three tasks, and each time the frog comes through for Marco. When he asks the frog to marry him, he destroys the power of a cruel enchanter; his bride is transformed into her true self, a princess as beautiful as she is clever. Clark's line-and-watercolor illustrations have their usual appealing combination of farce and gentleness, picking up the absurdity and the romance. Words and pictures combine a medieval setting with a contemporary tone that will be great for reading aloud. Category: For the Young. 1995, Greenwillow, $16. Ages 4-8.
